Talon is a lesbian grunge-pop band born from Brooklyn’s DIY scene and honed through nonstop shows on the city’s live circuit. Made up of four best friends—MK (vocals), Mara (guitar), Zena (bass) and Lauren (drums)—the band has quickly carved out a space for themselves with songs that swing from sugary hooks to full-throttle noise, navigating complex emotions with a knowing cheekiness to capture the contradictions of queer life in post-pandemic Brooklyn: messy and joyful, chaotic and tender, vulnerable and just a little bit bratty.

Pulling inspiration from Hole, The Breeders, Momma, Mannequin Pussy and Veruca Salt—plus the pop immediacy of Alanis Morissette and No Doubt—Talon makes music that feels both nostalgic and urgent. Their songs span bubbly melodies and headbanging catharsis, with lyrics that chronicle pain, desire, and self-acceptance. On stage, they’re equal parts live riot and inside joke, like watching a ‘90s sitcom where the punchlines are screamed through fuzz pedals—and the audience is always invited along for the ride.

Talon’s debut LP Codes arrived in Fall 2025. The band has toured the East Coast and played festivals including Pleasantville Music Festival and New Colossus Fest, an international industry showcase event. They’ve shared the stage with established acts like Ovlov and in 2026 took home the crown at Our Wicked Lady’s battle-of-the-bands tournament. With new music on the way in 2026, Talon continues to build their reputation as one of this Brooklyn era’s most exciting bands—a crew of true best friends crafting a spectrum of catchy, feelings-forward anthems you’ll find yourself alternately (sometimes simultaneously) dancing, crying, singing and screaming along to.
